"History of The Passion Play"

The Passion Play originated in Oberammergau Bavaria, a small German town. During the 17th century, a plague rapidly spread across Europe. Fearing the plague, the people of Oberammergau Bavaria closed the gates of the city. A young man working outside the city sneaked in after the gates were closed, bringing in the plague.

The leaders of the town joined in prayer and committed to God that they would perform the "Passion Play" of Christ's life every ten years if they would be spared from the plague. God answered their prayers.

In continuation of their promise to God, "The Passion Play" has been performed every ten years for over three centuries. The original Play laster several hours, spanning Jesus Christ entire life. The Play in Oberammergau Bavaria and the one you will see portrayed reveals the undeniable truth of Christ's death, burial, and resurrection.
